monthly roundup:

New format coming in HOT. A wise couple (I'll let you guess who) once told me to launch fast and iterate as you go. I think it freaks a lot of people out; to produce something without a full vision of how it will go. Just keeping it real here, I started this for me, not to gain a subscriber, BUT I'm glad you're here. ;) It's a creative place for me to get my thoughts out and share with ya'll, so it'll change a lot I presume, LOL. Thanks for being here, let's get into it.

WHAT I'M READING:

Dilettante by Dana Brown. This was a recommendation from Lauryn, and of course, she knew I'd be obsessed with it. It's about a struggling mid-20’s fella, Dana Brown, who had no idea where his life was headed, playing in a band and working crappy jobs. He lands a job (in a wild way) at Vanity Fair, starting off as Graydon Carter's (Editor in Chief at the time) assistant. I can relate so much with him as he writes my literal inner monologue of life as an assistant, it’s so funny. Dana gets a late start on his career and writes about working his way through the ranks. It’s super inspiring while also juicy, spilling SO MUCH tea on the early/mid 2000s celebrity culture. If you're in any kind of assistant role, I highly recommend this book, you won't be able to put it down. Some of my other fun book reccs can be found here if you're looking for more.

WHAT I'M EATING:

If you're following me on IG, closely or not, you probably know I'm leaning HARD into carnivore right now. That means meat, fruit, and raw dairy. I'm not sticking to this 100%, but I'd say it's about 85% of my diet right now. Right now I'm dying for a rotisserie chicken and the versatility I can get out of a $5 bird from Costco. I get two of these every Sunday, pick all the meat off, and then boil down the bones to make broth for the week. I'll eat the picked chicken straight up as is, make chicken salad, use in tacos, soup, salads, sandwiches or to make this bowl I’m loving right now with chicken, bacon and a bit of Primal Kitchen's ranch dressing. It's high-protein, and NOT boring with that crispy bacon. I can eat this over and over and over. Don't love ranch? Swap that out for a spicy buffalo sauce, Primal Kitchen also has a great version I LOVE.

WHAT I'M WEARING:

Athleisure. I know, predictable. I'm really trying to make my daily outfits workout-able, if that makes sense. If I can just change a tshirt or a pair of shoes, I consider that a win, especially if I'm going from gym>office or office>gym. Plus, I like being comfortable and not wearing clothes I'm tugging at all day long, especially sitting at a desk or running around town doing errands. I've tried SO many leggings, expensive brands to cheap brands. The BEST ONES that I continue to buy are from Fabletics. I have the flare bell bottom pair in black, which I love for a long leg illusion (short girl problems), and about 4 of the simple high waisted pair in black. For shoes, it has to be my white Nike Air Max's. They're so good for stability during a good lift, and comfortable to walk in if you're wearing them casually with a baggy jean.

WHAT I'M OBSESSED WITH:

Writing everything down. Thoughts, to-do lists, ideas for the future, goals, a quick journal entry... anything. I used to be a habitual write-on-your-hand person, but then I realized how chic it is to carry around a leather bound notebook and have everything in one place. I still use my iPhone to jot things down when I'm on the go traveling, but I swear this specific notebook (it is bougie, it was a super thoughtful gift I received) is glued to my hand during the work week. Get yourself an amazing pen that you actually enjoy writing with because, yes, that actually matters and makes a difference. It's nice to give yourself a reference point from the past or to get a goal on paper and physically see it in your own handwriting. I find it helps me execute tasks and stick to what I'm trying to get done.

WHAT SKINCARE I'M LOVING:

I'm so into this knock off Skin Ceuticals CE Ferulic serum I found on Amazon. And guys, IT WORKS. I've been keeping this to myself because I wanted to test it for a month to see results. It is AMAZING, and at such a great price, I can't justify buying the more expensive version. Ingredients are squeaky clean as well, it's a win-win. I use this after I've cleansed and did a small swipe of tretinoin. I let this chill on my face for 3 minutes and then move right along with other serums and SPF. I will def make a full skincare routine video soon, promise. Here’s a link to my Amazon Storefront if you’re nosy.

WHAT WORKOUT I'M DOING:

I have an amazing trainer, Kelsey McClure, who I've been working with for a couple years now. We did a lot in-person work at first, but now we use an app and she trusts me to bust my own ass without her physically shoving me along LOL. She has me on a 4-day rotation doing a lower pull day, lower push day, upper push day, upper pull day. On the 5th day of the week, I've been working in some abs and incline high-pace walking, kind of like 12-3-30 vibes. I'm also working in 10k steps minimum, EVERY SINGLE DAY. Kelsey knows I love my food and I HATE to run, so she's flexible with creating programs for me that I actually stick to. Check out her website if you're in the market for a new online personal trainer.
