Hiya again, ya hussies! Good GOD it's been a busy month. Whenever I get really busy, I hug so tight to my routine to keep my brain right, so I've been head down, quiet and boring to keep myself sane lol. That being said, I'm ready for a beach and a cocktail, ASAP. MONTHLY UPDATES, COMING RIGHT UP.

WHAT I'M READING:

Since House of the Dragon is back on Max (THANK GOD), I'm getting back into my Game of Thrones books. I feel like if there's one thing I am a nerd about, it's GOT. I've watched the show 3 times through and have the whole collection of books that my husband got me for my birthday one year. The series is a tough read, but it's a nice little escape from the romance fiction and it really forces me to lock in and pay attention. I'm always adding to my book reccs, which can be found here!

WHAT I'M EATING:

During the summer I feel like I lose a bit of my appetite. The heat REALLY is the season of small/light bites for me, but of course - can't skimp on protein! I love tossing together a little charcuterie board to pick at when I get hungry. It keeps in the fridge as well, so you do the work once, then have on-hand for a few days. I always add prosciutto and salami for my proteins, but you can add a leaner meat like turkey or cubed grilled chicken breast. Any cheese is a good cheese in my book, you can't go wrong with something smoked, sharp, and soft. THE TRIFECTA. It's a great time to showcase seasonal stone fruits fruits as well... think cherries and peaches. My go-to charcuterie board is ideal if you're making a bigger board for a get together. I also die for a thick-cut tomato toast with fresh basil, mozzarella, and a balsamic drizzle. The tomatoes from the Mueller Farmer's Market here in Austin are LIKE CANDY. So yum.

WHAT I'M WEARING:

HATS! There's this super specific style of hat that is trending right now, like the Eleven Eleven Caviar Cowboy type if you know what I mean. I'm obsessed with the look for summer - you can dress it up and dress it down too. The one I'm wearing lately I bought from The 555 Collection which is a brand by a homie from my hometown. Obviously a hat is perfect for a humid frizzy hair day, but also protects the skin from that HOT ASS summer sun. She can do custom hats as well if you've got a cheeky idea, just shoot her a message on her website.

WHAT I'M OBSESSED WITH:

I am so fortunate to have access to an infrared sauna. It's the most relaxing spot to hammer out emails or just rest my eyes for a second. I go in feeling kind of low-energy, and come out feeling like I got a good ol' kick right in the ass. It's also so good for your skin, mind (all that blue light from screens, ugh) AND for muscle recovery. You know I have a red light in my bathroom for this same reason. Sweating out those toxin demons are super important in my wellness routine. I can tell an immediate difference after being in there for even just 5min. I shoot to spend at least 30min to get a REAL good sweat in. I have an at-home/mobile sauna situation that you'd LOVE.

WHAT SKINCARE I'M LOVING:

โ€‹

โ€‹Lemon Laine's glow moisture serum is like SILK on the skin. I'm really into oils for both hydration and cleansing. This keeps my face hydrated all day long. It's luxe and thick, but without being overly greasy. I can tell my skin just drinks it right up. You'll love the dewy look this gives you under makeup, but I wear it as is with my TSC caffeinated sunscreen every single day. It's also CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN (Goop says so!) and the scent it has is really herbal. Highly recommend!

WHAT WELLNESS TREND I'M INTO:

I'm really into active recovery right now. This means doing something indirectly active in between workout days, like my favorite sport, tennis. I played in high school and have been in love with it ever since. It's an amazing workout and so good for your fast twitch motor skills, especially as you age. I love also kicking my husband's ass (he occasionally kicks mine)! It's a good activity to get the blood flowing, but not like a full blown lift day would. Moving around on your recovery days help with soreness and getting that good oxygenated blood to your muscles to aid in recovery. Tennis is also a sport you can play at any age, and the outfits are pretty cute too. My favorite tennis dress is actually from amazon, stalk my storefront here. Stay active, friends!
